Republic Day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India on January 26, 1950. This significant constitutional milestone replaced the Government of India Act 1935 and signified India's transition from a dominion to a republic following its independence from British rule. The Constitution was formally adopted on November 26, 1949, and came into effect a year later.
